2) There are cars that cost a lot to insure. You could get a comparable one that costs a lot less to insure. Sports cars are generally expensive to insure. A car that costs much to buy will generally cost much to insure. So, use a smaller car if you really want cheap insurance.

3) Get a car that has the following: Anti-lock brakes, Alarm system, daytime running lights and any other safety or security device. They will keep you and your car safer. Let your insurer know you have these in place. They will get you discounts.

4) You can swallow some of your pride and be on your parents' auto insurance policy. To do that you'd have to live with them and register your car in their name. If want your "independence" so bad then you'll have to pay a little more.

5) It pays to take your studies seriously. Insurance companies reward you with cheaper insurance if you make good grades -- A minimum of B's.

6) Use the public transport system whenever you can. Your mileage is a strong factor in calculating your risk to an insurer. The more you are behind wheels, the higher the odds that you'll make a claim soon.
